KU Leuven has a full-time vacancy for academic staff (professor) in Mechanical Engineering at the Technology Cluster Mechanical Engineering Technology, Group T Leuven Campus. The topic of the vacancy is haptics and virtual reality with a specialization in design and validation of haptic technology.
KU Leuven is a research-intensive, internationally oriented university that carries out both fundamental and applied scientific research. Our university is highly focused on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research and strives for international excellence. Leuven is located in the center of Belgium, 30 minutes from Brussels, the capital of the European Union, and less than three hours from Paris, London and Amsterdam.
The focus lies on medical applications, but results could find leverage beyond this field. We are looking for internationally oriented candidates with an excellent research track record, with educational competence in the field of mechanical design, control and automation, oriented towards applications in industry. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering Technology of the Science & Technology Group.
Cranfield University, Grenoble University and dstl are seeking a top class candidate to undertake research leading to PhD awarded. The thesis will be driven by John Erkoyuncu from Cranfield with Samuel Court in collaboration with G-SCOP in Grenoble (co-advisor Fr. Noël).
Project Description
Telexistence provides a means to complete maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities remotely that have the risk of causing physical injury and harm to the maintainer, or the by the same method, exceed the normal human capabilities of the individual with physical augmentation able to deal with increased loads without additional human manpower. Combined with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, this research seeks to develop novel methods for state-of-the-art remote virtual reality simulation for digital-twin robotic avatars.
PhD Position opening for the reconstruction of the acoustic heritage of Notre-Dame Cathedral through historically informed simulations. The project is funded by the “Chantier CNRS Notre-Dame”, and will be carried out in collaboration with national and international research projects related to the Cathedral.
When we think of the great architectural achievements of history, such as the Gothic cathedrals, their importance is strongly linked to their acoustic environment. The acoustics of a heritage site is an intangible result of its construction and its tangible layout. We will explore how, through measurements, research, and virtual reconstructions, the acoustics of one of the most remarkable heritage spaces in France can be documented, reconstructed, and experienced. The focus is on the preservation and digital reconstruction of a heritage site, bringing it back from the ashes by examining its evolution and importance in history.

The EuroVR member University of Bremen has an open position in Geometric Computing and Virtual Reality for Autonomous Space Navigation
Project description
The goal of this project it to research and develop novel methods for autonomous navigation that will allow ambitious space missions in the future, and which can also be transferred into terrestrial applications. The position advertised here, however, will mainly work on algorithms and methods in the area of geometric computing and virtual reality. In particular, the simulation of bi-static radar imaging, simulation of gravity fields around asteroids, its inverse problem, distance computations between spacecraft and surface, and procedural generation of asteroid geometry are the focus of this position.
