Prof. Maria Roussou

Prof. Maria Roussou is an Assistant Professor in Interactive Systems (Human-Computer Interaction, Virtual Reality, Computer Games) at the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications, University of Athens. She founded in 2003 and co-directs makebelieve, an experience design and consulting company. Previously, she established (in 1998) and directed (1998-2003) the Virtual Reality Department at the Foundation of the Hellenic World, where she was responsible for setting up the immersive projection-based VR exhibits and managing the research, design and development of the VR programs and related visitor experiences. Her contact with Virtual Reality began in 1993 when she was fortunate to land at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory in Chicago, where she spent most of the nineties designing and evaluating virtual environments for the CAVE®. Maria is Chair of the Greek ACM SIGCHI Professional Chapter (since 2011) and the recipient of the 2013 Tartessos Award for her contribution in Digital Heritage and Virtual Archaeology.

Keynote Speech

Prof. Roussou will be talking about designing the "User-Centered VR Experience" and she will touch on trends (from various disciplines) that penetrate the design and development of virtual environments, in view of the imminent wave of consumer friendly VR technology.
